We Active

For a few years I've been petitioning the boss in the house to consider a family membership to our local YMCA. It's 5 minutes from our house, less expensive than the other close gym (for a family membership), and we get a nice little break from his employer for being a member. Usually, I get the itch to join in the winter because we spend far too much time on our rears. When the weather gets nice in April-ish the itch to join usually passes and we all head outside for some activity: softball and baseball start, the bikes come out, the dog gets a walk here and there...

Anyway, today we went for a tour and are going to give it a try. There's no commitment beyond 3 months, and three months from now if we haven't used it very much we're back to bearable weather here in our neck of the woods.

My hope is that it will provide an option for the kids to shoot hoops, throw the ball around, swim, and do something without a screen that elevates their heart-rate. I hope it will inspire me to work out and give Robert an alternative to his usual place. I hope we will all be more motivated to get off the couch, out of the house and be active.

We had a small window of time today so we shot pool, played foosball, and jogged/walked the track.

Baby steps :-)
