If you live in just about any part of the USA you know it's been hot...and it hasn't rained much. At all. Where we live - the grass is dry and brownish yellow, not green and lush. It finally rained a bit last week and reminded me of my previous post. We have been praying for "rain" and preparing our "fields", believing that it will come in God's timing.
I posted on July 3 that we hadn't seen a house yet that we even thought we might want to put an offer on. A couple hours later we did. Later that week our offer was accepted.
Fast forward to today - we are passed inspections on both houses (the one we are selling and the one we hope to buy). We await appraisals on both houses which in this economy is the tricky part. Houses aren't appraising (or assessing as you may already know) for what we *think* they should. Our appraisals (on both houses) need to jive with our accepted offer prices so that the buyers on our current house can get loan commitment and so that WE can get loan commitment on the *new* house. If they don't the sellers (us and the owner of the *new* house) will have to lower the accepted offer price - or walk away from the deal completely.
Yes, sometimes our brains start to smoke and steam and swirl colors. It's a lot to think about. It's a lot to "what-if" about. As much as I try to avoid those land mines of "what if this...and what if that" - every now and then I succumb. We all succumb. We are human and this is challenging.
We hope to have appraisals on both houses this week and know in the next 2 weeks where we will live in a month. If God should open the door (literally) to us selling and moving to the *new* house we will close and move on August 30 - Labor Day weekend. School starts 5 days later. :)
As you think of us - please pray that this time of waiting and wondering bonds us as a family, teaches us to rely on God and not on four familiar walls, and most of all teaches us all about believing God. Please pray that God opens and closes doors and that whatever that looks like - we trust Him. We could stay if our sale falls through. We could move into an apartment if our sale goes through but our purchase doesn't. Several mountains that we saw before us standing in the way of us getting a good offer on our house have been leveled. Just when we thought there was no house for us to move into - we walked into one that felt like home. God is a God of moving mountains, bringing rain to those waiting in faith and expectation, bringing healing, and bringing the dead to life. Making numbers jive for banks and mortgages is nothing to God.
Matthew 6:34: Therefore do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
