This morning at 6:30am we left our hotel in Beijing and headed to the airport. Rocky helped us communicate with every check point as far as he could go. Time after time we watched them look at the batteries for the oxygen machine, talk to each other, call a supervisor and send us along. Finally we made it through!! We had to say goodbye with Rocky which was sad for us. We've really enjoyed our time with him.
We have now made our way to Grace's province, Xinjiang, to the capital city, Urumqi. We noticed immediately that the air is fresher and smells more like home. It seems to take about an hour to drive anywhere in China and from the airport to our hotel in Urumqi was no different. The abrupt starting and stopping will be interesting without a carseat.
Our new guide Sophia is very sweet and seems prepared with our necessary paperwork. Her English is not great but we are getting by. Have I mentioned we miss Rocky? Our hotel is lovely but we have no wifi in room. There's only wifi on the first floor so communication will be less frequent whole we are here. Roberts phone still works great so I will have to keep reminding him to post on Facebook and I check my email on it from time to time.
Robert and Jake went out in search bottled water after we filled out some paperwork with Sophia and Maddie and I unpacked and got ready for Grace in our room. I can't believe we will meet her in the morning!! We are so excited!!!
Then we took a walk around. It is very different here from Beijing. The city is fore cars and less bikes. They have odd tunnels going underground to cross streets. No one crosses in the city above ground. It's similar to Manhattan actually in how it looks and feels. Lots and lots of show stores on our street! No one really speaks English and here we feel a little more lost than in Beijing.
It's a weird feeling to know its our last night just us four. We are ready to meet Grace and bring her into our little foursome but we are hugging each other
a little longer today.
We will update as much as we can tomorrow. We will be out at appointments most of the day. Its going to be a very busy day for the new Miss Sprengel. Thank you for praying for us and for Grace as everything changes for all 5 of us in different ways. Watch for pictures!!

Just looked to see where Grace's province is - wow! You're way out there! I bet the hotel is a bit different than in Beijing. Have you seen any other westerners? I think our group was the only ones in Audrey's province. Enjoy your time there - soak up the culture! God's blessings on the big day tomorrow!!
